Background of the study   
Mobile search optimization is crucial for tech startups seeking to increase app visibility in a crowded digital marketplace. This study evaluates how a tech startup in Kano employs search engine optimization (SEO) techniques specifically for mobile platforms to improve its app’s discoverability and download rates. Mobile search optimization involves the use of responsive design, optimized keywords, fast-loading pages, and structured data to ensure that the app ranks highly in mobile search results (Oluwaseun, 2023). With the growing reliance on mobile devices for app discovery, effective optimization strategies can significantly influence user acquisition and overall app performance. Research indicates that mobile-friendly SEO practices can lead to enhanced visibility and increased organic traffic, which are critical for startup growth (Okeke, 2024). The study will analyze performance metrics such as search rankings, click-through rates, and download volumes to determine the impact of mobile search optimization. It will also explore challenges related to algorithm changes and technical constraints, providing recommendations for improving app visibility in competitive markets (Chinwe, 2025).
  Statement of the problem   
Tech startups in Kano face challenges in improving app visibility due to inadequate mobile search optimization strategies. Poor optimization results in lower search rankings and reduced organic traffic, which in turn limit user acquisition and app downloads. Despite investing in app development, the lack of a targeted mobile SEO strategy hinders the app’s discoverability in a competitive marketplace. This study seeks to identify the key obstacles affecting mobile search optimization and evaluate their impact on app visibility and user acquisition (Oluwaseun, 2023; Okeke, 2024).

Significance of the study   
This study is significant as it provides insights into optimizing mobile search strategies to enhance app visibility for tech startups in Kano. The findings will guide startups in implementing effective mobile SEO practices, thereby improving user acquisition and overall market competitiveness (Chinwe, 2025).

Scope and limitations of the study:
The study is limited to a single tech startup in Kano and focuses exclusively on mobile search optimization’s impact on app visibility, without exploring other marketing channels.
